Pittsburgh Youth Mental Health Coalition
On May 19th, 2022, Citrone 33 brought together 113 passionate leaders, influencers, and
change-makers at PNC Park to launch the Pittsburgh Youth Mental Health Coalition. The goal of the
gathering was to showcase different available mental health resources and give organizations a platform
to share the important work they are doing. We succeeded in orchestrating not just a fundraising event,
but a community-wide movement focused on collaboration, connection, and unity. Since the event, we
have made enormous inroads with like-minded organizations and professionals and have generated
continued interest from the national community in the work we do within the mental health space.

Break the Ice
Created by Citrone 33 and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, Break the Ice is a movement in support of Hockey Talks for each and every Penguins fan, as mental health is health. Through #BreakTheIce, fans are challenged to connect with one another and to take positive action regarding their own mental wellness and that of their loved ones. On January 10th, 2023 Citrone 33 took positive action towards prioritizing our mental health with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 4th Annual Hockey Talks Game. The event included a pre-game session for local youth hockey players with several guest speakers - including Jay W. Osterman from MTV’s Mental Health Action Day & Tyler Smith from Not Alone Co. & the Humboldt Broncos. Resources were shared on our concourse by local organizations, such as UPMC who featured our COOL Zone & MindHacks initiatives. A fundraising collection occurred in support of suicide prevention in our Veteran community. Additionally, we created Hockey Talks branded winter hats as a giveaway to help keep mental health top of mind.

Mental Health Action Sports Team Playbook
A playbook was developed by the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Citrone 33 as a resource for any team or sports franchise who may like to activate around May’s annual Mental Health Action Day and/or host a Mental Health Action Game using best practices from the Penguins. The playbook was shared on Mental Health Action Day in May of 2022 at PNC Park during Citrone 33’s youth summit.

Happy Healthy Pittsburgh - Headspace Collab
In November 2019, Headspace is brought mindfulness, meditation, and more to the people of Pittsburgh. The free two day event was filled with activities to help make Pittsburghers feel happier and less stressed. Activities included meditation, food, sleep stories, plenty of play, and a collaboration with former Steeler, JuJu Smith-Schuster.

A Broader Way
On September 24th 2022, Citrone 33 hosted 130 people for a conversation and song with Tony Award Winner, Oscar Award Winner, and Grammy Award Winner - Idina Menzel and dragqueen, Nina West to benefit A Broader Way Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to offering girls from urban communities an outlet for self-expression and creativity through arts-centered programs. Through ticket sales and sponsorship packages, we were able to raise over $500,000.

Inheritance of Hope
On February 10, 2022, Citrone 33 hosted 35 Golden Oak residents for a luncheon celebrating the new Kendra Scott store located in the Town Center at Disney Springs, a unique new concept celebrating the brand's ongoing work with Inheritance of Hope. Inheritance of Hope is a non-profit organization that works with young families facing the loss of a parent due to a terminal diagnosis to organize once-in-a-lifetime experiences. During this event, Citrone 33 raised over $100,000.
Ryan Seacrest Summit Event
On October 16, 2022, Citrone 33 hosted 65 members of The Ryan Seacrest Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to inspiring today’s youth through entertainment and educational initiatives. C33 organized a cocktail party and private concert performed by the American country music group, LOCASH.

Gratitude Greatness
The Little Black and Gold Book of Gratitude is designed to be a tool to help promote mental wellness through Gratitude, Goal Setting, and Kindness. As we continue to try and tackle youth mental health gaps, our goal is to create a ‘surround sound’ of gratitude, kindness, and inclusion through the football season in partnership with local youth football teams, The Steelers, and Citrone 33. This year, five youth football teams will be completing the 33-Day Gratitude & Greatness Challenge by answering each prompt in The Black and Gold Book of Gratitude to break down barriers on and off the field to become Gratitude Champions.

Seth Meyers Unpacks U | Back to School in Pittsburgh
Released in September for students returning to school in the midst of a global pandemic, the Unpack U PSA provides humor, insights, community, and resources and serves as an introduction to the larger Unpack U program. Take Me Out to the Ballgame with the Pittsburgh Pirates
Unpack U and The Pittsburgh Pirates presented a musical montage video: Take Me Out to the Ballgame, but with a twist! Featuring Pirates pitcher Steven Brault, Pittsburgh CLO performers, ITS Pittsburgh students and dancers from Point Park University, the energetic mashup included updated lyrics encouraging teamwork and promoting mental well-being during our collective seventh inning stretch.

Unpack Q - Virtual Trivia Night
Unpack U hosted our first ever Trivia Night on September 23rd. 2,000 students, faculty, and staff from 9 Pittsburgh university partners came together on Zoom to play trivia with host Wes Kauble. Amazing prizes included over $10,000 in scholarships, AirPods, Gift Cards, and more were given out to winners. The event promoted our resource guide and social wellbeing for all.

Citrone Foundation $200,000 Grant for Local Youth Initiatives
In 2015, Citrone 33 awarded a $200,000 grant to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation to support youth-based initiatives in the Pittsburgh region. The Penguins Foundation provided a matching $200,000 as the two organizations worked together to create unique programs promoting education and physical fitness while supporting children with special needs.
Operation Restore (The Cascades)
The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation together with the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Citrone 33 Foundation launched the restoration of the Cascades, a place where families can come together to enjoy the outdoors in South Park. Through the program in support of NHL Green, the Penguins Foundation revived the beloved Cascades with an assist from Citrone 33.
