In 2017, the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted a Play It Forward game that encouraged fans to register as organ donors. During the game, there were two Play It Forward tables for fans to register as organ donors, six-year-old heart transplant patient Jameson McKain was recognized as the Hometown Hero of the Game, and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation made a donation to Play It Forward Pittsburgh, which supports the Starzl Network for Pediatric Transplantation Excellence at UPMC’s Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
